Signature Capture & Co-Signing
Professional & EnterpriseSignature capture lets users draw a handwritten signature on a form. It is available on plain-text multiline fields (base64 PNG data is too large for the 255-character single-line limit). This guide focuses on the new co-signing (multiple signatures) mode.
1. Single-signature mode
On a plain-text multiline field, enabling signature capture replaces the text area with a Sign button in new/edit forms. Clicking it opens a canvas modal where the user draws with mouse or finger. Saving stores the signature as a base64 PNG; the display form renders it as an image. A Re-sign button reopens the canvas and Clear removes it.
Configurable in the field properties panel: pen color, background color, and line width.
2. Co-signing (multiple signatures)
Turn on Allow multiple signatures in the field properties panel to switch from single-signature to co-signing mode. In this mode:
- Each signature is captured in its own modal, with a Signer name text field so each signer identifies themselves before saving.
- After saving, each signature shows as a separate entry: the drawn image, the signer’s name, and the capture date/time.
- An Add signature button lets the next signer add theirs without disturbing existing ones.
- Each entry has its own Remove button; a Clear button removes all at once.
- An optional Max signatures setting caps how many the field accepts — the Add signature button hides once the limit is reached.
- The display form shows all signatures in a responsive row layout, with name and timestamp under each image.
3. Sizing
- Signature images are capped at 500 px wide (matching the drawing canvas) and scale down on narrow screens.
4. Worked example — a two-party sign-off
Goal: A contract form that requires the employee and manager to both sign.
- Add a plain-text multiline field named e.g.
Signatures. - In its properties: enable signature capture, then enable Allow multiple signatures.
- Set Max signatures to
2. - (Optional) set pen color to a dark blue and line width to
2.
At runtime the employee clicks Add signature, enters their name, signs, and saves. The manager then clicks Add signature again, enters their name and signs. After the second signature the Add signature button disappears (max reached). The display form shows both signatures side by side with names and timestamps.
